BAGHDAD (AP) — The U.S. military says a team of medical professionals is evaluating the wounded at an Iranian exile camp north of Baghdad where two days of clashes with Iraqi police left at least seven dead.
The military said Friday in a statement that the medical team evacuated the most seriously wounded to a U.S. military facility for further treatment.
The statement did not say how many were wounded.
The team arrived at the camp late Thursday after U.S. Embassy officials met with Iraqi officials.
The clashes began Tuesday when Iraqi police tried to enter the camp of the People’s Mujahedeen Organization of Iran.
About 3,500 former Iranian fighters and their relatives live at the camp.
