Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, described the removal of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) from Canada’s list of terrorist entities and the designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Qods Force a right step in the right direction.
She welcomed the decision by Canada’s Governor General and the Canadian Government, in particular by the Ministers of Public Safety and Foreign Affairs.
Mrs. Rajavi added: This designation, part and parcel of the policy to appease the ruling mullahs in Iran, should never have been done in the first place. It provided an excuse for the suppression and murder of Iranian people and members of the People’s Mojahedin in Camp Ashraf, Iraq. Labeling the PMOI a terrorist organization marked an enormous aberration in combating terrorism. The designation of the most anti-terrorist and anti-fundamentalist movement in the world only emboldened the real terrorists and the godfather of terrorism and fundamentalism, namely the dictatorship ruling Iran. As a result, the mullahs, perusing nuclear weapons, now pose a major threat to peace and security in the world, especially the Middle East, while murdering men, defenseless women and innocent children through their terrorism and warmongering every day.
“The time has come to completely shun the policy of appeasement and recognize and support the Iranian resistance to overthrow the clerical regime and establish democracy in Iran. The rights and protection of residents of Camps Ashraf and Liberty, members of the PMOI, should be guaranteed and Camp Liberty should be declared as a refugee camp,” she underscored.
