NCRI – The leader of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives took part in a celebration on the occasion of Iranian New Year (Nowruz) held at U.S. Congress in solidarity with the residents of Camp Liberty in Iraq.
Ileana Ros- Lehtinen , chairwoman of the Subcommittee on the Middle East;, Sheila Jackson Lee , a prominent member of the Committee on Homeland Security , Ted Poe , Chairman of the Subcommittee on terrorism , John Makia , Chairman of the Sub -Committee on Government Relations , Donna Edwards, Chair of Congressional Caucus on women’s issues , Judy Chu, member of House Committee on Judiciary were among many House members attending the event.
Nancy Pelosi, the first woman to preside over the House of Representatives of the United States , told supporters of the Iranian Resistance , “You are all inspiring to us. I recently met with members of Iranian American community in Houston. We talked about camp Liberty. We talked about how we all need to work together to try to make safe outcome for some of their family members who are there.”
Ileana Ros- Lehtinen , former chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, for his part, declared : “we hope that this year will bring better luck, fortune and health to our families and our friends. Hope that the people of Camp Liberty will find safety and security. And those responsible for terrorizing and murdering the friends and families will finally be held accountable for their horrible actions.”
Camp Liberty that houses Iranian opposition members in Iraq has been the target of several rocket attacks in recent months, causing several casualties. A plot by the Iranian and Iraqi regimes designed to destroy the Iranian resistance or extradite them to Iran.
