Sen. Menendez Condemns Latest Attack on Camp Liberty
Friday, October 30, 2015
NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, issued the below statement on the missile attack on Camp Liberty.
“I condemn the most recent deadly assault on civilians in Camp Liberty. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. I have repeatedly called on the Government of Iraq, the United Nations and our own government to do more to ensure the safety of Camp Liberty’s exiles. Iraq made an international commitment to protect the Camp and its residents. They should no longer be the victims of violence. They should no longer be left unprotected. And, now, in the aftermath of another vicious attack, they should be provided the shelter, medical attention, and urgent support services they desperately need. It is imperative that the United States closely monitor the Government of Iraq and their efforts to find the perpetrators and hold them accountable.”
