Gilbert Mitterrand, son of the late French President Francois Mitterrand, met with Maryam Rajavi on March 2, 2017, in Tirana, Albania.
He was accompanied by Michel Joli, Secretary General of the Danielle Mitterrand Foundation, France Libertés, and the foundation’s executive director, Emmanuel Poilâne.
Mr. Mitterrand extended his congratulations on the Iranian Resistance’s great success in the relocation of PMOI freedom fighters from Camp Liberty to Albania, describing it as a major step in the path towards the Iranian people’s liberation from the yoke of dictatorship.
They discussed the prospects for change in Iran and the latest political developments.
Mr. Mitterrand expressed his delight over meetings with PMOI members from Camp Liberty and said he had been impressed by their 14-year resistance under the most intense pressures and their determination for victory.
Mr. Mitterrand told a group of PMOI freedom fighters about the relationship between Danielle Mitterrand and Maryam Rajavi. He said, “Maryam Rajavi’s struggle revived my mother’s memories from young age. She found her thoughts in Maryam. Her relation values that you have defended and modeled. Maryam Rajavi is an example and a model for these values.
Mr. Mitterrand said, “I always had a special feeling about the relationship between these two women. Despite their age difference, they were in harmony and coordination.”
